How it is calculated

Cashback is normally based on net losses: stakes minus winnings over a defined period, sometimes minus bonuses already received. If you finish the period ahead, there is nothing to return. The rate may rise with a loyalty level, and a cap limits the return per period. Some operators count only certain games or exclude bonus play from the calculation.

Daily or weekly

Weekly cashback pools seven days and pays once; daily cashback settles every 24 hours. Weekly cycles smooth out swings between days, daily ones return money sooner. Credit may arrive automatically or need a claim in the account area within a short window — check which, or the return simply lapses.

Cash or bonus balance?

This is the line that decides the value. Cashback paid as real balance can be withdrawn immediately. Cashback paid as bonus balance carries wagering, usually lighter than a deposit bonus but still a condition. The terms should say so explicitly; if they do not, ask support before you rely on it.

Insurance bonus and loss rebates

Some operators call cashback an "insurance bonus", often for a narrower product: a refund of the first deposit if it is lost within a set time, or protection for one specific bet. The name changes, the questions do not — rate, cap, cycle, form of payment, wagering.

Cashback and German player protection

Cashback is, by design, a product for people who lose regularly. That is why the German framework matters here. Operators on the GGL whitelist of the GGL must apply deposit limits and be connected to OASIS, the nationwide blocking system. A deposit limit caps what a losing week can cost in the first place; OASIS lets a player shut the door across all listed operators at once.
